Travel Tales...

I really have no idea how to process all that's happened in the last few weeks....I think I"m just gonna work backwards and try to re-cap some of the adventures we had...

Our flight home was probably the longest day of my life....it started with incredibly long lines in Moscow, finally getting through customs with just 5 minutes before the plane boarded. Every one of our bags was opened and inspected, as well as our carry-on stuff. John Kelly had some Russian cough syrup in his bag and I watched the chick at customs check out the box, take it out of the box and look at the bottle, unscrew the bottle and smell the cough syrup, then put it up to her mouth AND TAKE A SWIG of John's cough syrup!!

Dan started feeling sick in the airport, and soon after we took off from Moscow, spiked a fever and started making use of several Delta Barf Bags...I felt so badly for him.....we were glad that Dan's dad could pick him up at the airport in Chicago and take him home to be pampered for a few days.....Melissa said yesterday that he's been to the doctor and is feeling better.

It was so good to pull into the church parking lot around 12:45am and see my family and the college students having a Welcome Back TailGate....I told the girls a few stories when we got home, then kept talking to Todd until he couldn't stay awake any longer....there are so many things to tell....so many things that are hard to explain....things I don't really understand yet.

It's good to be home. It's good to have a new appreciation for my husband and the amazing job he did while I was gone. It's good to have a community of college students who will come over tonight and laugh, tell stories, have an All-American Cook-Out, and have a closeness that could never be acheived in Springfield.

Hmmm......thanks, GOD!!

Welcome back, sister Christian. We had a great time in Michigan and you would have been VERY proud of your girls and how they held up under the pressures of candy, tantrums and long days at the beach. I'm sure they look much older to you, too. We were impressed! Looking forward to hearing about the other side of the world.

It's seems since I've been back from my trip to Ukraine this summer, and aside from all the God-lessons learned, whenever I see my "teammates" from the trip at church or elsewhere we just give each other these knowing looks. It's great to see those people and be reminded each time I see them of what happened on the trip.

This quote was part of my Lectio365 Sabbath devotion this morning, and as I considered what this day should look like, I began considering ...
