Sophia:
"Mom, I need to talk to you....alone."
(cue the after-school special dramatic music....)
Me:
"Okay, what's up?"
Sophia:
"You know how we all have dreams?
Me:
"uh....yeah?....actually, I just had one last night that Barak Obama spent the night at our house and left his wallet here...."
Sophia:
"Yours is to play the violin. I really want to follow my dream. And I need to try your dream, which is violin, and daddy's dream, which is guitar, and Sarah's dream.....and then I'll choose one and play it forever. But I've tried violin, and now I'm ready to try guitar. I just need you to know that."
Me:
"Okay. Now go practice your violin."
