Signatures....

I was recently at a ministry event where people asked if I had a business card.....of course, I don't...not for campus ministry. I do have a business card that says Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, but that just opens up another conversation....I'm not opposed to business cards. Sometimes I think it would be handy to have some. But for what occasion? What would they say that could describe who I am and what my life is about? Obviously, Breastfeeding Peer Counselor doesn't really describe me. But if I had one that said Campus Minister, I don't think that would do the job, either.

My email at the Health Dept. automatically adds a signature to my emails....it includes my name, title, office address, phone and email. I notice some college students add signatures to the bottom of their emails...they might say Resident Assistant, Club President, or some other role they play on campus. What kind of signature would really tell people who I am and what I'm about? Mediocre Wife and Mother? Jesus-Follower? Cookie-Baker? What would my signature reveal about what I value? And even if I could adequately describe who I am and what I'm about, is that what I would choose to put at the bottom of my emails? or would I need to find something that would be more impressive to the recipient?

I think there have been times in my life when I took titles or labels too hastily.....Democrat.....Baptist.....
Conservative.....Liberal....Feminist.......Pacifist....and those labels changed from day to day, situation to situation. So maybe I'm not in any hurry to try and define myself.....and no position or office I hold will be very impressive to anyone...so I guess I'm okay without a business card

Good blog topic.

In college, I had some that read "Chronic" (or was it "professional"?) student. But since I didn't have a permanent phone number or address, they were pretty plain.

Now we just use ones that have our names and email addresses and blogs listed. Anything else, we can add with a pen.

My business card used to say "Hazardous Safety Foreman" people used to ask if the place I worked was Hazardous or I was.

its debatable.

I just tack on my HSA job because the only time my emails ever really matter for "official business" is usually Housing-related. And it's easier to just have it automatically on there instead of adding it every time I need it, lol. Plus, it reminds me of how blessed I am to have a job even when I'm just emailing my friends or something.
