Yippee!!! It's DONE!! (again....)

God is so smart....through this whole adoption thing, I think I've handled the delays and disappointments pretty well until now. But the past couple of days has been the first real sense of discouragment I've felt since we decided to adopt a year ago. Even when people would lament, "why does it take so long when there are SO many orphans who need families", I would smile and stay positive, thinking, we signed up for this and God's timing will be right....

But the last couple of days I've found myself getting frustrated when I see so many families getting on the list before us (though at the same time I'm ELATED for them!!) and thinking about our girls growing up so fast. Comiserating with my friend, Brian, who is adopting from Vietnam, about the uncertainty of it all...For the first time, I started to really feel tired of the whole thing.

Then today we got a call from Erin at CHI saying that our Letter of Endorsement from DCFS was completed, and she's sending our Homestudy to Citizenship and Immigration Services!!

Seriously, I think we set a record for the longest homestudy....August 9th is when we started it, so that makes it almost 9 months!! Now we have a 6-8 week wait until CIS sends us our I171, the final document of our Dossier, which we will be compiling starting TOMORROW!!

Thank you God, for your perfect timing!!

Hi there! I totally understand what you are feeling....the good thing is you can get those dossier documents together and get it going! I have experienced the same feelings seeing all these familes excited to have the dossier work behind them...its bittersweet!

Good luck with paper chasing - it will go fast! :)

Oh hooray! I feel as if our home study took FOREVER, and it was really only 3 months. I feel for you, but it WILL go faster now. Celebrate each step... I just love your honesty in this post. (how normal to have those feelings)
