Friends of ours are adopting a newborn in about 6 weeks. At dinner tonight, we were talking about how exciting it will be when they get their new baby. This was the unexpected conversation that followed:
Sarah Jane: Why do they want to adopt?
Me: Well, some couples just don't get pregnant on their own, or they want to give a home to a child that needs one.
Sophia: Where do babies come from, anyway?
pause......
Me: Welllllll......
Todd: It's a long story......
Sophia: I can count to 100...1....2....3....4....5....6....
Listen, I'm taking the "Preparing Your Daughter" class, remember? I'm ready for this question! But hey, if she'd rather count to 100, that's okay with me for now!!
