Illinois State Fair

We have some traditions in our family...a dime hidden in the birthday cake, pictures on the 1st day of school, and.....eating our way across the State Fair. We almost thought this would be the first year we didn't go to the Fair, but at the last minute, decided to go with our good friends, Ed, Sally, and Anna Green. We documented our quest for the essential fair foods for your reading pleasure...

*Todd sharing his #1 fair food - ice cream from the Dairy Building

*Sophia showing a little FFA pride....and yes, they do know Shana Stine at the FFA Petting Zoo

*Trying a Vose's Corn Dog (Matt and Lynda's favorite fair food)
Review: Pretty darn good, but running neck and neck with Taft's ribeyes.

*Finally decided on a funnel cake this year, in honor of our good friend, John Wentz.

Our State Fair is the best State Fair. Don't miss it, don't even be late!

MMMMMM. . . the fair! We miss you fair and all of your yummy deep-fried goodness! Though, we did get a funnel cake at the BalloonFest tonight. However, we really wanted an elephant ear, but not a single vendor sold them!
