Jehovah's Witness Etiquette
IF I were twittering, I would ask the question, "What is my obligation as a Christ-follower when a well-dressed Jehovah's Witness rings my doorbell on a Friday morning while I'm doing laundry (and waiting for pants to dry....hence...in a t-shirt and no pants) and wants to to engage in a spiritual conversation (I assume)?"

Gretchen, Did I ever tell you about meeting with a client in her home for lactation counseling who happened to be a Jehovah's Witness? I was incredibly uncomfortable when she first started "witnessing" to me. As our time together went on, I found the experience eye opening. Based on our conversation, I think she became a Jehovah's Witness because of 1.) the personal connection she made with other Jehovah's Witnesses and 2.) it was the first time she had gone to a church and been taught about a loving God. She was under the impression that most people didn't think of God as a loving God. Only that they were afraid of Him and that He punishes us for our sins. She was surprised that I believed many of the same things she did. As I sat there, I felt God's presence help me to relax and He put the words in my mouth. And when I left, there was a yard full of butterflies, I kid you not. I hope she remembers our conversation. I am sure I actually witnessed to her that afternoon!
Your Christian obligation is:
1) Matthew 22:39 - Show love to your neighbor.
2) Matthew 7:1; Luke 6:37 - Do not judge others.
3) Colossians 3:12-14; 4:6 - Listen. Be kind. Speak with graciousness.
4) Hebrews 4:12; Matthew 28:19,20;
1 Corinthians 9:16 - Using the Bible, share the good news with all you meet. (It would be very selfish to keep your knowledge about salvation to yourself. John 17:3)

CAT - thanks for the reminders about being loving....but it still doesn't answer my question....do I answer the door in wet pants, no pants, or don't answer the door??

If your not dressed please don't answer the door. It is understandable that there are times it is not possible to answer the door. Not being dressed is one of them. If you come to the door not dressed it will not only be uncomfortable and embarrassing for you but for them as well.
