I was reading in Exodus 33 this morning, the instructions God gave Moses about leading the Israelites into the promised land. They (God and his people) have had few bumps along the way....God rescues them from captivity, parts the Red Sea, provides manna and quail for them in the desert and the people, well, they whine, they grumble, and they are quick to look for other gods to worship.
So in Exodus 33, God tells Moses He's bowing out of the next leg of the journey. He says, "keep heading towards the promised land, but instead of walking with you, I'll just meet you there....I'd surely kill you along the way because of your rebellion and stubbornness" (my translation).
Funny, I thought the same thing as I pushed my kids onto the school bus this morning.
