I cried the whole way home from the YMCA

Tonight I took my 12 year old daughter to her first Junior High all-nighter.

And as I drove home, I bawled like a baby.

Because I know it's happened.

Just a year ago, she grabbed my hand as we walked into the grocery store and I remember telling her to never quit holding my hand in public. She smiled and shrugged and kept her hand in mine.

Tonight as we rode in the car I reached my hand out and she awkwardly pretended to hold it for a couple of seconds. And then slid her hand back into her lap.

She's becoming a teenager.

She is beautiful. And funny. And smart. She's responsible and wise, and I'm incredibly proud of who she is.

But I had no idea how much I would miss my little girl.

leave her at the jr. high overnighter until she realizes who loves her. then she'll hold your hand again, or use her hand to call DCFS because her mom left her at the jr. high overnighter.

haha....I know she loves me, too....I just had tricked myself into thinking I was too cool for her to ever be embarrassed/annoyed by. Sigh....

Well be glad, Riley stopped hugging me and holding my hand when I was walking him into pre-school!! But that made it easy to take him to the Jr.High all nighter!
But I will be REALLY sad when Rorey
won't hold my hand anymore. He is a lover.

I know just how you feel. I have 2 teen boys (13 + 15) and it kills me. When they are little you think they will be that way forever. Really, it goes by too quickly.
