Image...

Would your opinion of me change if we walked out of CSF on a Friday night and I lit up a cigarette?

I don't know if it should matter, but if I'm honest about it, when I heard today that Barak Obama is a smoker, it kind of changed my opinion about him....or at least of his image.

Isn't that strange? Even though I knew his book revealed prior drug use from his younger days, that almost seems more acceptable to me than to know that he's a smoker. I'm not saying it's right...I was just surprised by my own reaction.

I'd be more worried about his opposition to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, but that's just me ;).

Agreed....so in the same way, what does it say about someone that they serve as a board member on the most liberal abortion rights organization? More than just their position on abortion, based on that, can we make a judgement about someone's character?

Yeah, that's a valid question... there are a lot of people who support abortion for very good reasons, though. I don't think they're right, but part of me would almost rather have an honest pro-choicer than someone who is pro-life because it's politically expedient... but which one is the lesser of two evils in that situation? I honestly don't know the answer, and that makes it really hard to vote sometimes.

thanks, Brad...I read something else on this yesterday. Interesting that the policical pundnits also agree on the significance of the smoking issue....I wish him lots of good luck and willpower as he kicks the habit!!
