Breaking the news....

What's the best way to break bad news?

Do you try to soften the blow by setting it up....couching the bad news in "the bright side"? Just blurt it out and get it over with?
  • When I was about 8, someone ran into my house and announced to me that my brother had been hit by a car, broken his neck, and would never walk again (not true...hit by a car, yes....but broke his pelvis and walked again soon).
  • We've had to break news to our girls about family members dying or divorcing....
  • Had to break it to a friend when their "crush" just wasn't interested......
It's not easy....and I guess how you do it depends on the person and the situation. But ultimately, it's about telling the truth.

So.......

Shana, one of your fish died and was buried in our backyard yesterday.

AW, we have a fishy that's been here since Christmas. We 're pretty open to the kids about things like that... it's going to happen some time!

Poor little fish, you could always go out and get another one though to replace it. Some things in life you can't replace that easy.

this reminds me on my post about confessing my attraction to Southern Gospel...do you remember that?

Anyway, I just read that Passion is having a conference in Chicago from October 19-20, remember how we always wanted to go to the conference together?! It just so happens that Heather and I are planning to be in IL on those days...

aghhhh....we'd love to go....but we're going to an even cooler conference the 1st week in August (the Catalyst Conference in Georgia), so our budget is already pretty well spent!
