Isaiah 36

I've been very aware of spiritual warfare lately...in my marriage, relationships, ministry, and in my brain....I was so grateful to have some time with Todd this week when we could bring some things into the light. You know how you just let your mind go haywire sometimes?....bitterness? self-pity? Todd is great at helping me put things back into perspective...seeing the God-reality, rather than my sinful, screwed up perspective. It's a good reminder to me that we can't let our guard down. Satan is constantly looking for ways to screw with us, discourage us, distract us.

So I was reading about King Hezzekiah....Assyria had attacked all of the fortified cities of Judah, and was coming for Jerusalem. The field commander of the Assyrian army approaches the city and starts talking smack with the people of Jerusalem...
"Don't listen to Hezzekiah. Has any god ever delivered land from the hand of the king of Assyria?"

"Haven't you heard about what the Assyrian army has been doing to other cities?"

"Are you crazy to trust your God?"

Have you heard those kinds of things from the Deceiver?

And then God responds through Isaiah:
"Who do you think you are?? Listen, I know where you live. I know when you come and go." 37:28

Just to make his point, the angel of the Lord went out and put to death 185,000 men in the Assyrian army.

Yeah, that's right. That's my God.

I have been reading through Isaiah and I just read that earlier this week. After getting through the beginning and the oracles of all the nations it has been really encouraging.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

I can't wait to hang out with you and your family next week!!

I'm glad you got some Todd time. It's amazing how much that one one time can put things into perspective, isn't it? Thank God for our men and mighty warriors that they are!!
